Charity Auction for

CLIC Sargent Children's Cancer Charity

and

The Sydney Children's Hospital

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons

Glasgow  2nd October 2009

Fundraising dinner 2nd October 2009 in College

The charity auction is being organised by the grandparents and aunt of  toddler Joseph MacDermid who has undergone treatment for a brain tumour.  It was diagnosed when he was 18-months old, shortly after his parents emigrated to Australia last year. Surgery was followed by four months of a new chemotherapy from the St Jude Hospital in Memphis, now being used in Australia. "So far his MRI scans have been clear and we pray that they continue to remain so," say his family. The MacDermids want to help other families in this situation by fund raising. This lovely picture of Joseph was taken in physiotherapy just two weeks after surgery to remove the tumour.

Shapes were supporting the children's cancer charity The Scots Australian Children's Cancer Trust fund-raising dinner at The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. The successful bidder was consultant surgeon Graham Sunderland of Glasgow's Southern General Hospital. Paul says, "It was a terrific evening with some very unusual items including an opportunity to spend the day as a photographer with The Herald newspaper, with press award winner, Martin Shields. That went for £600."  All funds raised where shared equally between the Scots Australian Children's Cancer Trust and CLIC Sargent.
